Meeting was called to order at 6:34pm
Jennifer Petersen read aloud the August minutes and Wendy Burnett approved them. Becky Cleator seconded it.
Directors Report: Band Camp was a success!! Thank you so much for all those that volunteered their time with donating food, helping feed the kids, work on uniforms, etc. Mr. Menefee believes that the kids could handle a show on October 1st so the show schedule will be as follows:
October 1st – Music in Motion (Kamiak)
October 8th – Tumwater
October 22nd – Everett
November 4-5 – Auburn (this will be an overnight trip)
There will be a game on Saturday September 17th at 4:00pm. The kids needs to be at the school to start practice at 1:30pm. Props are coming along nicely. The art department is working on the "wall" and the kids will be starting to practice with some of the props that are finished this upcoming week. The practice schedule is Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-8:30. When there is a home football game on a Friday night, the kids do not come home after school and the boosters feed them a hot dinner before the football game.
Treasurers Report: After all of the restricted funds, we have $19,650.79 in our checking account and $25,277.29 in our savings account. We received the check from WECU for the gift cards that they purchased over the summer. We received a check from Tour de Whatcom for $900.00. We also received a check from Jessica Demorest’s grandparents for $3500.00. Thank you so much Demorest family!!
Community Reports:
Uniforms: All fittings are done except for four new kids need to be fitted.
Communications: All is going well.
Volunteer: A lot of people showed up to volunteer for band camp. Need at least 8 people to help with concession stand not 6.
New Business:
Fund Raising: Donna Weatherly brought up maybe selling Yankee Candles and wreathes ordered through a catalog. It was brought up that FFA makes them. Look into seeing if we can help make and sell the wreathes with FFA. Sees Candy chocolate bars were brought up and decided to go ahead and purchase more for the kids to sell.
Oct. 6 is open house so Oct. 5 will be next band meeting at 5:30p.m. during band practice.
Trinkets & Treasures: Jennifer Vogelzang said she would head it up for Nov. 19
Reynolds-BBQ family stated they would take care of dinner at the Everett Competition Oct. 22. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be served.
June 2-5 Disneyland: non-refundable deposit due Oct. 15, 2015 of $150.00 per attendee
Total is $890/person + food and spending money
